Gladys Bautista is an anchor and reporter who joined the �������� 13 News Team in February of 2023.

Gladys comes to Birmingham from our sister station WLKY in Louisville, Kentucky. During her time in Louisville, Gladys delivered strong reporting on big stories like deadly Western Kentucky tornadoes, the Kentucky Derby, various severe weather events and the attempted assassination of a mayoral candidate.

Gladys is a two-time Emmy-nominated journalist, having been recognized by the Ohio Valley Chapter of the National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences for her daily reporting overall and specifically for her reporting in the aftermath of deadly tornadoes that struck western Kentucky.

Before Louisville, Gladys was a reporter and anchor in Jefferson City, Missouri for the local CBS affiliate station. While in mid-Missouri, she covered various national stories including an overnight tornado that struck Jefferson City, for which she and the rest of the team received a national Edward R. Murrow Award for breaking news coverage.

Gladys is a first-generation college graduate, earning her Bachelor’s degree in Multimedia Journalism in 2018 from Georgia State University. Gladys was born and raised in New York City and moved to Atlanta in 2013 to attend college. She is fluent in Spanish and Italian.

Gladys is also a proud member of both the National Association of Hispanic Journalists and the National Association of Black Journalists. In her spare time, Gladys loves to spend time with her family and friends, read a good book, travel and see everything Central Alabama has to offer.
