Alabama Sen. Tommy Tuberville has weighed in on the detention of a graduate student at the University of Alabama by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE).Alireza Doroudi was apprehended at his off-campus apartment eight days ago after the Department of Homeland Security claimed his visa was revoked and he posed "significant national security concerns."Since being taken into custody, dozens of University of Alabama students have called for his release.Wednesday morning, �������� 13 asked Sen. Tuberville if the public should know the specifics of why Doroudi was taken."Obviously, at the end of the day, the information will be revealed," Tuberville said. "If you're on a college campus and you are creating and breaking laws on these campuses, time to go home," he continued. "We don't need to put up with you."Doroudi's lawyers say he is a legal resident and they haven't been told how he is a threat to national security. "Mr. Doroudi is a doctoral student in mechanical engineering at the University of Alabama, with an active I-20/SEVIS status at the university," David Rozas, Doroudi's attorney, said in a statement Friday. "I have not been informed of any allegations concerning significant national security issues.""He was taken into custody by ICE at 3 a.m. at his home and is currently held in a county jail, awaiting transfer to an immigration facility (which has happened since). He has not been arrested for any crime, nor has he participated in any anti-government protests.
