SUNDAY SHOWERS
Sunday is chilly and damp. On-and-off showers, heavy at times, will drift across the state as temperatures hover around the upper 50s. It won't rain everywhere all day, and while instability is limited, there may be a few rumbles of thunder.
The most widespread rain arrives Sunday night through daybreak Monday morning.
WARM START TO THE WEEK
After a slow exit of rain Monday, warmer days return to start next week. Highs range in the 60s Monday afternoon, with the sky becoming sunny.
Highs on Tuesday and Wednesday will reach into the mid-70s, bringing back a spring-like feel. Highs toward the middle of March typically average around 67 degrees in Birmingham, but we expect temperatures to rise to the mid-70s most of next week.
Another low-pressure system will drift across Alabama by midweek, bringing rain and some storms with it. The timeline for any wet weather begins around midnight on Wednesday and lasts through most of the day Thursday.
This does not look to be a significant rain-maker for Alabama nor does it pose a severe risk.
IMPACT WEATHER SATURDAY
The 米兰体育 13 weather team has declared Saturday, March 15 an Impact Day.
Impact Day means you should remain weather aware as the weather may cause disruptions to your normal routine. Watch the video above for the latest forecast.
March is an active weather month. A progressive upper-level pattern will send storm systems this way routinely. A more significant threat for active weather returns Saturday, March 15, with heavy rain and gusty winds.
A strong low-level jet will approach Alabama by next Saturday, with an orientation that leads to a risk for severe weather across the southeast.
Strong wind shear, combined with warm-moist air from the Gulf, will lead to a strong line of thunderstorms sweeping across Alabama Saturday. Timing and specific threats will become better defined later this week.
There is high confidence for...
- Stronger storms
- Gusty winds
- Heavy rain
There is low confidence for...

- Flooding threat
- Hour-by-hour timeline
From this weekend to next week, Alabama should expect between two to four inches of additional rain across the state.
