We leave these things at the moment, of course we were there. I was there. And we saw the sky filled with this. Me falling. Yes, the people of Normandy remember it well. This is only *** reenactment of the airborne invasion which centered around the tiny town of Saint Marylees, but 40 years after D-Day, the planes, the billowing shoots, and the silhouettes of all those boys do trigger memories for those who flew these skies that dark, dangerous morning. I just wanted to see the place where we dropped the troopers. It was uh Pretty exciting night. The weather was bad, we dropped through clouds. And we came in that we had to drop at 400 ft. So we're just below the clouds at 400 we pulled up and and put the green light right here. As for those making today's anniversary jump. No way you're up there, doesn't know, you're thinking too much about your landing and all that, but now I'm here now. It's nice to think about it now, you know, about the men and all the people who fought they are here to celebrate the day, you know, after 40 years. But for the French and the Americans who lived through this war, remembering is especially bittersweet this year, you know, and they're old like I am old now and 30 years have passed and it's it's somewhat sad. It's harder and harder each time we're getting older and the memories mean more. OK And That's the reason why Saint Maryle is *** town where the former servicemen from the United States and especially the paratroopers. They can come back and cry with whole change. Reporting from Normandy, this is Patty Berman, 5 Live News.
