IT DOES NOT FEEL LIKE THE HOLIDAYS OUTSIDE. NO, WE NEED TO BE COUNTING DOWN TO WHEN WE鈥橪L FINALLY HAVE SOME TEMPERATURES NEAR AVERAGE FOR THIS TIME OF YEAR. BECAUSE IT鈥橲 BEEN IN THE 80S. I AM FORECASTING ANOTHER DAY IN THE 80S. TODAY, WELL ABOVE AVERAGE FOR THIS TIME OF YEAR. LET鈥橲 TAKE A LIVE LOOK OUTSIDE, BECAUSE THERE IS KIND OF A WEATHER STORY BASED ON WHERE YOU LIVE. AND THAT鈥橲 BECAUSE WE HAVE A MIX OF SUN AND CLOUDS. AND SO WHERE WE鈥橵E BEEN SOCKED INTO THE CLOUD COVER THROUGHOUT MUCH OF THE MORNING, THOUGH, THOSE ARE THE LOCATIONS WHERE TEMPERATURES ARE JUST A TOUCH COOLER. IN FACT, LOOK AT CULLMAN 64 DEGREES RIGHT NOW SO THAT FEELS PRETTY SEASONABLE. THAT IS CLOSE TO WHERE WE WOULD EXPECT TO BE THIS TIME OF THE YEAR, BUT WHERE WE鈥橵E GOT THE BREAKS IN THE CLOUDS, WE ARE WARMING QUICKLY. LOOK AT DEMOPOLIS 82 DEGREES IN DOWNTOWN BIRMINGHAM RIGHT NOW. WE ARE AT 78 DEGREES AND I DO EXPECT THE TEMPERATURE TO CLIMB INTO THE 80S IN DOWNTOWN BIRMINGHAM TODAY. SO THIS IS THE VIEW OF THE CLOUDS FROM SPACE AND WHERE WE HAVE THE BREAKS IN THE CLOUDS. THOSE ARE THE SPOTS THAT ARE SEEING THAT SIGNIFICANT WARMING TAKE PLACE TODAY ALONG INTO THE SOUTH OF REALLY, I SHOULD SAY, I GUESS THE SOUTHERN THIRD OF THE STATE, SOUTH OF MONTGOMERY IS WHERE WE HAVE BETTER CLOUD COVER. A FEW SPOTTY SHOWERS NEAR HUNTSVILLE. WE鈥橵E GOT SOME CLOUD COVER AS WELL. IT鈥橲 RIGHT IN THE MIDDLE OF THE STATE, RIGHT ACROSS OUR AREA THAT WE鈥橵E SEEN MORE OF THE SUN. SO BREAKING DOWN THE REST OF THE DAY, HOUR BY HOUR, PARTLY TO MOSTLY CLOUDY SKY TEMPERATURES IN THE 80S. IN SOME SPOTS WHERE WE HAVE MORE CLOUD COVER, YOU鈥橰E LIKELY TO HOLD IN THE 70S THROUGH THE EVENING HOURS. VERY, VERY LOW CHANCE OF AN ISOLATED SHOWER. OTHERWISE, WE鈥橪L KEEP THE CLOUDS AROUND. IT鈥橲 GOING TO BE WARM AND HUMID FOR OUR HIGH SCHOOL FOOTBALL GAMES THIS EVENING ACROSS CENTRAL ALABAMA FOR THE WEEKEND RAIN COVERAGE COMING UP JUST A LITTLE BIT NOW. I鈥橫 NOT FORECASTING A COMPLETE WASHOUT THIS WEEKEND, BUT THERE WILL BE SHOWERS AROUND AT TIMES, ESPECIALLY ON SUNDAY. YOU CAN SEE THAT RAIN COVERAGE GOING UP JUST A BIT. SO LET鈥橲 BREAK IT ALL DOWN FOR YOU. 9 A.M. TOMORROW MORNING. THERE WILL BE A FEW SPOTTY SHOWERS. OTHERWISE, WE鈥橰E PARTLY TO MOSTLY CLOUDY LOOKING TOWARDS 3 P.M. YOU SEE A LOT OF GREEN ON THE MAP. I DON鈥橳 BELIEVE IT鈥橲 RAINING EVERYWHERE. ALL THE TIME. THE OVERALL STORY HERE IS THAT THERE MIGHT BE A PASSING SHOWER FROM TIME TO TIME THROUGH THE AFTERNOON AND INTO THE EVENING HOURS, THEN ON SUNDAY WE鈥橵E GOT A FRONT MOVING TOWARDS THE STATE AND THAT鈥橲 GOING TO BRING US A LITTLE BIT BETTER COVERAGE OF SOME RAIN AND EVEN A FEW RUMBLES OF THUNDER ACROSS NORTHWEST ALABAMA. WITH THAT CHANCE OF RAIN SPREADING SOUTHWARD LATER IN THE DAY ON SUNDAY LASTING INTO SUNDAY EVENING, HERE鈥橲 THE LATEST ON RAPHAEL. IT IS A CATEGORY TWO HURRICANE. IT IS GOING TO START INTERACTING WITH SOME SHEAR AND SOME DRIER AIR AS IT MOVES WESTWARD. I WANTED TO TAKE YOU OUT HERE TO SATURDAY EVENING. YOU START TO SEE A NORTHWARD JOG HERE AND YOU鈥橰E WONDERING, OKAY, WHAT鈥橲 GOING ON WITH THIS? WELL, WATCH WHAT HAPPENS AFTER THAT. DOES A LOOP, HEADS BACK TO THE SOUTH. NOT GOING TO IMPACT OUR WEATHER AT ALL. HOWEVER, IF YOU鈥橰E HEADED DOWN TO THE COAST, KEEP IN MIND THERE IS GOING TO BE A HIGHER RISK OF RIP CURRENTS RIGHT ALONG OUR AREA. BEACHES SO CLOSE TO HOME THIS WEEKEND. SHOWERS AT TIMES. IF YOU ARE HEADED ON THE ROAD TO WATCH THE ALABAMA GAME, WE ARE EXPECTING SOME RAIN AT TIMES

Hurricane Rafael made landfall in Cuba as a Major Hurricane on Wednesday. It's forecast to slowly track west across the southern Gulf over the next five days. The hurricane remains well south of the Gulf Coast, but is sending high surf and high rip currents to Alabama's coast. Rafael is eventually forecast to weaken by early next week.
