Jury in Lockett rape trial deliberates for 4 hours
HAD A LOT OF INFORMATION TO GO THROUGH. JARVIS THEY THEY HAVE, ACTUALLY. AND AFTER 3.5 HOURS OF DELIBERATIONS, THEY ARE STILL NOT THROUGH THE JUDGE, JUST SENT THE JURY HOME, THOUGH, FOR THE HOLIDAY WEEKEND TO RESUME THEIR DEBATE ON TUESDAY AFTER THE LONG HOLIDAY WEEKEND. WELL, JONATHAN, MASTER LOCKETT FACES ABOUT A DOZEN TOTAL CHARGES IN THIS CASE. PROSECUTORS CLAIM HE SEXUALLY ASSAULTED FIVE DIFFERENT WOMEN BETWEEN 2019 AND 2020. AMONG THE CRIMES HE鈥橲 ACCUSED OF COMMITTING, THEY SAY HE USED A PISTOL HE STOLE FROM A VICTIM TO FORCE MULTIPLE WOMEN TO PERFORM SEX ACTS. LOCKETT TESTIFIED, THOUGH, IN HIS OWN DEFENSE THURSDAY. HE CLAIMED ALL THE ENCOUNTERS WERE CONSENSUAL AND THAT HE RECORDED SOME OF THEM TO PROVE IT. BUT IN THEIR CLOSING ARGUMENTS THIS MORNING, PROSECUTORS SAID HE MADE THE RECORDINGS FOR A DIFFERENT REASON. IN ISABELLA, COLOMBO POINTED OUT HE RECORDED THOSE BECAUSE HE WANTED TO REMEMBER EACH AND EVERY ASSAULT SO HE COULD MEMORIALIZE THEM. WELL, MOMENTS EARLIER, DEFENSE ATTORNEY DAVID WALTZ CONCLUDED BY SAYING, YOU CANNOT CONVICT NO MATTER HOW UNCOMFORTABLE AN ACQUITTAL MAKES YOU. NOW, LOCKETT FACES A HANDFUL OF FELONIES IN THIS CASE. SO IF HE IS CONVICTED, THERE, CLASS A FELONIES, BY THE WAY, IF HE IS CONVICTED ON ANY OF THOSE, HE FACES A SENTENCE OF BETWEEN ANYWHERE BETWEEN TEN YEARS AND LIFE IN PRISON. AND LIKE I MENTIONED, THE JUDGE SENT THE JURY HOME FOR THE HOLIDAY WEEKEND. SO THEY WILL RETURN ON TUESDAY TO RESUME THEIR DELIBERATIONS
